Meaning: Is named after the Hwa Rang YOUTH GROUP which originated in the Silla Dynasty about 1350 years ago. This group eventually became the actual driving force for the unification of the three kingdoms of Korea.

CHUN BI (at A, facing D): rising on balls of feet, extend both arms in circular motion over head; as heels are lowered, pull down open hands, palm in, to C position (left open hand over right open hand, below belt level)
l. Facing D, step out left foot toward B to form STRADDLE STANCE while executing SANCHIN LEFT PRESSING BLOCK with KIHAP (block goes diagonally across body towards E, while reaction hand slowly comes back to form fist).
2. RIGHT PUNCH to solar plexus.
3. LEFT PUNCH to solar plexus (immediately after right).
4. Look 90 right to C. Pulling back right foot to form RIGHT BACK STANCE toward C, execute BOX BLOCK (initiated from left hip, right fist over left).
5. LEFT UPSET PUNCH to C as right fist is pulled to left shoulder.
6. Pulling back right fist to right hip and right leg toward left leg as upper body twist right, extend left arm toward C. Twist body left to C in FIXED STANCE/RIGHT PUNCH to ribs.
7. Pull back right foot to SHALLOW RIGHT BACK STANCE (feet no more than 6 inches apart) while bringing right hand across and in front of body to execute overhead VERTICAL KNIFEHAND STRIKE to clavicle.
8. Move left foot toward C to form LEFT FRONT STANCE, executing LEFT PUNCH to solar plexus.
9. Look 90 left toward D. Turn left 90 to D in LEFT FRONT STANCE/DOWN BLOCK.
lO. RIGHT FRONT STANCE/PUNCH to solar plexus.
ll. Pulling left foot to right as right side turns to D to form CLOSED STANCE, extend left arm back and overhead to GRASP RIGHT FIST.
l2. Execute RIGHT SIDE THRUST KICK to D while PULLING RIGHT FIST in opposite direction. Lower right foot to RIGHT BACK STANCE while executing RIGHT INSIDE KNIFEHAND STRIKE to neck.
13. LEFT FRONT STANCE/PUNCH to solar plexus.
I4. RIGHT FRONT STANCE/PUNCH to solar plexus with KIHAP.
15. Glance 90 right toward E. Turn 270 left toward E, pivoting on right foot, to form LEFT BACK STANCE, executing KNIFEHAND BLOCK.
16. Left pressing block into RIGHT FRONT STANCE/SPEARHAND to solar plexus.
17. Look 180 over left shoulder to F. Turn left 180 , pivoting on right foot, to form LEFT BACK STANCE/KNIFEHAND BLOCK.
18. RIGHT ROUNDHO– USE KICK to head toward F, lowering foot to F.
19. LEFT ROUNDHO– USE KICK to head toward F, lowering left foot to F in LEFT BACK STANCE, executing KNIFEHAND BLOCK.
20. Look 90 left toward A. Turn 90 left to A, pivoting on right foot, to form LEFT FRONT STANCE/DOWN BLOCK.
21. Pulling left foot to form LEFT BACK STANCE, execute RIGHT SHORT PUNCH to ribs (right elbow is bent so that forearm is parallel to chest).
22. RIGHT BACK STANCE/LEFT SHORT PUNCH to ribs.
23. LEFT BACK STANCE/RIGHT SHORT PUNCH to ribs.
24. Sliding left foot toward left to form LEFT FRONT STANCE, execute LOW X—BLOCK.
25. Looking right 90 toward A, jump to A off left foot, landing on right at 45 angle facing E, drawing left leg into LEFT CAT STANCE, executing AUGMENTED REAR ELBOW STRIKE to A with KIHAP.
26. Pull left foot to right, turning left to B to form CLOSED STANCE while dropping right hand, palm in, and raising left hand, palm in, then bringing in arms so they are parallel. Exchange hands so right palm faces out, left in, for HIGH-LOW FOREARM BLOCK.
27. Exchange hands again for HIGH-LOW FOREARM BLOCK (left palm now faces out for high block, right palm faces in for low block).
28. Step left foot out to LEFT BACK STANCE, executing KNIFEHAND BLOCK.
29. Look 180 over right shoulder to C. Turn 180 right to C in RIGHT BACK STANCE/KNIFEHAND BLOCK with KIHAP.
Draw right foot to left and raise arms to return to CHUN BI C position at A, facing D.
